Southstone Yards
Southtone Yards, an innovative mixed-use destination situated right at the entrance of Frisco, Texas. Nestled along the southern boundary of the esteemed Stonebriar neighborhood, this visionary development spans 45 acres. While paying homage to Frisco’s rich heritage of rail yards and agriculture, Southtone Yards marks the commencement of a new era with its forward-thinking design, cutting-edge structures, residential offerings, and expansive green areas.
Equilibrium are assisting the architectural and engineering team with developing optimal solutions related to the mass timber. In working with the mass timber supplier, Smartlam, Equilibrium helped to advance a new scheme for the building which consisted of double glulam beams (used in lieu of single larger beams to take advantage of the suppliers automated press line) and custom concealed beam hangers (used to minimize column size and allow automatic pressing of columns). After establishing the concept, Equilibrium provided Specialty Engineering services, fully designing and detailing all timber connections in the building.
